OUR History

Nyenga Senior Secondary School, established in 1967, is a prominent Anglican Church-founded institution commissioned by the Church of Uganda under the Mukono Diocese. Located in Nyenga Parish, Nyenga Division, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, Uganda, the school is strategically situated just 4 kilometers from the Kampala-Jinja Highway and approximately 13 kilometers from Jinja City Centre. Set on 33 acres of prime land, Nyenga Senior Secondary School is fully registered and licensed by the Ministry of Education and Sports as a mixed day and boarding school offering both “O” and “A” levels. The school is also part of the Universal Secondary Education (USE) government program, ensuring access to quality education for students from all backgrounds.

At Nyenga Senior Secondary School, we believe in the all-round development of our students. We offer a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama, debate clubs, and community service programs. These activities provide students with opportunities to develop their talents, leadership skills, and a sense of social responsibility.
We are deeply rooted in the Nyenga community and are actively involved in various community development initiatives. The school participates in local events, outreach programs, and collaborations with community organizations to improve educational resources and infrastructure.
Over the years, Nyenga Senior Secondary School has recorded significant achievements in academic performance, sports, and other extracurricular activities. However, like many educational institutions in Uganda, we face challenges, including limited resources and infrastructural needs, as we continue to grow and serve an expanding student population.
Our school boasts a strong network of alumni who have gone on to pursue higher education and successful careers in various fields. Many of our alumni continue to support the school through mentorship, resources, and participation in school projects.
Nyenga Senior Secondary School is committed to its core mandate under the USE Government policy, focusing on increasing access to quality secondary education for economically vulnerable families. Our core functions include:
- Providing affordable education to the community
- Ensuring girls have access to educational services
- Promoting economic diversification in the surrounding area
- Supporting the Government’s free education policy
- Preparing students for civic duties and cooperative social activities
- Equipping students with job-related skills for economic participation
- Fostering personal development and encouraging the worthy use of leisure time through the arts and sports
At Nyenga Senior Secondary School, we strive to create an environment where students are nurtured academically, socially, and morally, preparing them to become future leaders and contributors to national development.
